Evil movie villainesses with long nails

I know we already have the 'Movies With Nails' thread, but can we start a thread dedicated to evil villainesses in movies with long nails? It would be great if you could post some pictures too of the lady in question....

For ladies like this, the nails add to their character and suggest that they are not to be messed with.....

Here's a start:

Karen Mok as the beautiful and lethal oriental villainess General Fang in 'Around The World In 80 Days':

Faye Dunaway as the evil Selena in 'Supergirl' (credits to Wolf for the pics!):

Bette Midler as the leader of the witches in 'Hocus Pocus':

Sandra Hess as Andrea Von Strucker, an evil queen out to kill the main character in 'Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD' - check out her long pinky nail:

Isn't it interesting in itself, that longnails seem to be associated with evilness? In most films the bad women have longnails, whereas the good ones - mostly the main characters - have short and unremarkable nails. I think that says much about the perception of longnails in society...

Regards, S.

Great find on 'The Polar Bear King' Este - I've never heard that one mentioned here before.

And it was interesting to hear the views about evil female characters always having long nails and other female characters having short nails. For me, on a philosophical level it always makes me think that if it came down to a fight, a long-nailed woman would be able to use her claws to her advantage to scratch her way to victory. That adds to their power and enhances their ability to intimidate other characters, so the nails to me are integral to their 'evilness'.

Feel free to contribute your thoughts....

co-signing Matt's point

And the long nails always identify villainesses with glamor of an urban kind: sexual, deviant, and ruthless the same qualities that usually make her the most interesting person in the movie!

The movies almost always make sure she gets bumped off in the end, upholding the peasant moral code of the audience.

That's exactly when the movie loses me. Who cares about the happily ever after of dull people?

eviled 02-27-2011 08:09 PM

I'm with you Mike....I love it when the villainess is riding high and well on the way to ruling the world and absolutely hate it when she is either bumped off or caught and arrested.
There were a couple of great villainesses in those old Basil Rathhbone 'Sherlock Holmes' films. I am sure the great Gale Sondergaard was in at least one of them.

I'm surprised nobody here has remembered the witch in Kevin Costner's 1991 Robin Hood Prince of Thieves film...There was a couple of really good scenes where she uses her nails and one scene she uses them to cut some bald dude's head...Wish someone could get the footage;-)

Yeah, she was pretty ugly in that movie. Geraldine McEwan,

decent, slightly above average looks made Mortianna, however

look horrible, long nails or not.

Hey!! What About Lucille

I am so surpised no one has even mentioned Lucille of Volunteers, starring Tom Hanks and the late John Candy?

She has to have some of the most amazing and lethal nails ever seen on TV or movie!

And what's even more amazing is that those nails seem to be her real nails in that they are not claws fitted onto her finger tips or anything like that. It's as if those steel nails are somehow bonded to her real nails!!
AMAZING!!!!
I think personally she is more lethal than lady deathstrike!!

That was hot as hell! I've never seen anything like that anywhere except in that movie, so I'm assuming it was a custom set. I think it would be awesome to see someone have a set of wicked, steel sharpened dagger claws, polished to a high sheen, bonded like acrylics, but with a more managable length to bring forth the highest level of danger to an LNB! :D

There was also Nadira from Power Rangers Time Force, who always wore her nails long. And in the "Stolen Beauty" episode of Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, Trakeena takes human form and she has beautiful long nails. Makes you wonder if someone involved with that show had a thing for evil women with long nails.

Then there's this dog of a movie, which was mentioned in the Nail movie thread, Necropolis:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091617/

It's virtually unwatchable unless, of course, you're into long nails. The villainess sports an amazing set of them, and you actually get some great looks at them.

I've always wondered the same thing about Power Rangers. The show was more or less unwatchable for me, but the nails always brought me in! For whatever reason, PR was a great source of nail material!

Yeah, it's very unwatchable, long nails or not. The plot was almost non-existant and the acting was atrocious. Another bad movie for acting so bad it's almost humorous that has an awesome LNB is Angelika Jager

of the 1986-so-terrible-you-need-to-watch-it movie Robot Holocaust and it has a lot of good nails shots in it. Definitely a much more watchable movie than Necropolis.
