I've recently updated my computer together with the OS to XP
When I was using 2000 professional, and went on to the forum, new unread messages would be in a BOLD font and easily recognisable as being new and unread.
Now, with XP they don't come up in bold.......... so it's not so easy to spot new postings.
I've tried to find how to make changes... but not succeeded
Any hints would be welcome
Thanks

I am not sure why, cuz I am definitely not tech savvy, but both Lon & I run XP, and both of ours show new postings in bold. It was that way automatically for us.
I know this was absolutely no help, but thought I'd let you know we didn't do anything special....

That's good to know Lin........ now I'm really confused.
I know it sounds a bit flash, but we now have 4 working computers in our house.... not bad for the two of us ehh?.
2 run 'Win 2000' and the other 2 are XP.... Both the XPs have this problem.
It's not the end of the world....... I think there may be bigger problems in life.

Leni,
I'd have to do further research, but the attribute that you are referring to is supported by what is called a 'strong' tag. This in turn is supported by BBcode (or by php scripting) within a bulletin board, that makes new entries appear bold.
I suspect something in your browser is not letting BBcode or php work the way it should. Give me a few days to research this in my spare time and I'll get back to you with findings, if any.
I hope this helps, hang in there.

Thanks LLN, I think I may be on the way... I've found that my browser will not keep my personal info (handle / password) and I have to log in every time.
Now, if I log in through any other section of the board, by the time I get to the main forum I am already logged in and the bold script appears but if I log in there, then I've lost the window.
Now, all I have to do is get my browser (Firefox) to remember my settings.... I'm stumped because I've tried all possibilities.
It's not only the Nail Forum, but other places where I have personal details... bank... you tube etc

Hello Leni, I would strongly recommend to update your Firefox to the 3.0 version, it's much more secure and it handles the saved info faster.
Kind Regards
