As webmaster and admin of this BBS, I cannot count the number of emails (well over 50 as of 01/01/06) I have received from members and guests of this forum that ask questions similar to this:
"I keep getting banned from the forums. Can you tell me why?"
or
"Can you please get me back into NailBytes BBS. I havn't done anything wrong."
Be assured that the admins nor the webmaster is kicking you out. I have no intention to prevent anyone from reading or posting in the forums with few exceptions.
The answer to the question is this: You must be an AOL user. In fact all 50+ emails I received so far requesting permission to get back in have come from AOL users.
I can tell you that AOL users all share the same isp number at times. The problem comes about when several of you all show up at the same time, and surf the BBS and read posts, etc. The system software has security sytems built in to prevent "flooding" or misuse by visitors attempting to overburden the system by flooding it with garbage posts, etc. If several of you with the same isp number show up at one time, the system does the simple easy thing and kicks you out for a short period of time. If you wait a few minutes or hours, you'll indeed be able to access the BBS once again.
I'm sorry for that inconvenience but I have nothing to do with how the system operates, nor do I know how to fix that.
All I can suggest to you is to join the rest of the civilized world, and get a REAL internet provider other than AOL. Because AOL sucks : )
I'm hoping this clears up the misunderstanding as many upstanding individuals have written me thinking that I have kicked them out for no good reason. I havn't. The only people that get kicked out are the knuckle headed bozos that deserve it.
We rule with a light fist and are pretty tolerant most of the time, so if you get kicked out for doing nothing .... just wait a while and try again. Don't take it personally.
