Ask what profession boasts women with the most beautiful nails, and the kneejerkers are immediately shouting manicurists (nail techs to the P.C. crowd). I'm not stating that's the wrong answer, however, other professions may also be at the top in nails. Lilly made great point when her nails seemed to prevent her from getting a job that was advertised in the beauty industry. Personally, I think beauticians of all kinds should have beautiful nails.
So what other professions are hotbeds for women with nice nails? I've noticed some women working in offices tend to often have long nails. And many of the stay-at-home moms in metro NY have long natural nails.
Do you think long nails occur at the same frequency in all jobs? I'd think not as some jobs are very wearing (pun intended) on the nails.

Back when I was still somewhat new at this, I would often frequent malls and stores, where I would hang around for hours searching for targets. After a while, I started to see a sort of pattern, and I would search out specific places:
- Jewelry stores, or jewelry counter in a department store (presumably pretty hands 'sell' the product better).
- Stores which cater to fashion accessories (leather goods, purses, shoes).
- Makeup/perfume counters.
- Salons (obviously) and stores which sell salon supplies.
- Art stores.
- Any place which caters to (and would tend to be staffed by) teens.
- Craft stores.
Additionally, in my daily life, I almost automatically scope out the following:
- Secretaries
- Waitresses
- Cashiers
- Airline personnel (stewardesses, counter personnel)
Give me time, I'm sure I could come up with more, but these are the ones which leap directly to mind.

Great topic.
I agree with Ker-Cyt, however I did see a lady on the Delaware Turnpike totally decked out in nail jewelry and nails, I thought "Wow" then I realized she knew that people looked at her hands ALL Day, when they handed her their toll receipt and change. It was the only time I saw a toll booth worker with nails, but it did make sense.
KerCyt forgot the obvious: strippers. Some of the best nails (or well... the consistenly over 1/2 inch and manicured) that I saw was when I was in the Army at Ft. Benning, Georgia; I'd hit the strip clubs with my fellow Rangers and 98% of the girls had nails over 1/2 an inch. There was this one girl, an older Goth stripper in her mid 30s with wicked tattoos and jet black hair with 1.5 inch long real nails, unpolished and with a rounded tip. What great memories.
When I was younger in the early 80s, my mom was in real estate and her and her friends all had 3/4 inch long nails. Although it seemed lie every lady had nails back then, but generally real-estate girls do like to have that 'polished' look to them for their clients.
I dated a girl on the swim team and during the off-season it seemed like her and her friends grew their nails out to about 1/2 a inch (mid to late 90s). Ok Swim team is not reallly a profession.
It just seems like that you don't see them anymore (well OK, I haven't been in a strip club in years, so those girls still might have them).

KerCyt forgot the obvious: strippers.Actually, KerCyt didn't forget. KerCyt only mentioned the places KerCyt personally looks for nails, and KerCyt doesn't frequent strip joints. ;)
