History

Nailbytes.com was the second of three generations in the history of our presence on the web. The website titled "Real Women - Real Nails" premiered on the internet on June 1, 1997. The website was not the first website of our ilk. Fanastic websites such as Amazing Nails, Netnails, NTC, DC0007, Nails!, Leni Cano, NOTM and several others were already featuring nail material, in some cases for as long as 2 years prior to our birth.

RWRN started out as a community oriented presentation, offering various contributors space to present their pictures and stories. It was a place many could call home. It was a webspace that was virtually neutral, offering material regardless of quality and origin. RWRN encouraged participation by it's readers. RWRN offered many pictures, clips, .wav sound files and stories in it's infancy. As time progressed, we added the links pages, chat rooms, and message boards. Ever since day one - we've looked at the big picture and tried to encourage participaton and inviting ideas from all corners of the globe. While we have never been considered one of the top sites available to nail passionate people, we have strived to remain active, up to date, and available to all.

In 1997 we started as RWRN. Within a year we changed our name to Nailbytes and secured our first domain. In 2001 we were faced with personal financial challenges and scrambled to stay alive, ultimately changing our domain presence to Nailbytes1.com. And today we remain on line, updating frequently by providing the nailcentric population a starting point, hopefully providing these people a place they can call home.

Our archive spans almost 15 years of contributions from people all around the world. The collection will never be a complete one. While the number of pictures, clips, stories and links will eventually be a finite number - it is also evident that the story in itself is infinite.

Many thanks to the hundreds (thousands?) of contributors that joined in and injected life into this community for the better part of the last 15 years.

  • Wild Wanton. It's no secret that Wild Wanton is my absolute favorite. I got to meet her in person, and was blown away. The pictures are great, but they don't tell the story. I beleive that this is the complete Wild Wanton archive just as it appeared on the old server. Sorry for the two year delay. On 8 pages, we have 331 pictures.

  • Rose. In our history, few donated as much material as Jim and Rose. 490 pictures on 4 pages.

  • Anne. Beauty from the past whose contributor is still around but wishes to remian anonymous.

  • Cheque. Great pictures from the early 2000's.

  • Big Pimpin. Can we now reveal who Big Pimpin was? Let me write to Rich and ask him LOL.

  • Mr. B. Another terrific set from a dedicated reader.

  • Jess aka Luna. Superb beauty who had her own website eventually. These pics are all from the early days before the website was published.

  • LN - Loves Nails. Great stuff from a great contributor. Hope he's still around.

  • Rukababy. Canada's own superstar who helped me prove to myself that if you don't have a foot fetish now, you never will. She grew her fingernails for us though!

  • Angel. The legend, from day one, Angel was a high profile presence, never to be forgotten.

  • Ausie Nail Lover. Yeah, I guess I spelled Aussie wrong several times. Pfft. These are modified pics from the guy from down under.

  • Evelyn. Dedicated nail grower from the Baltimore area grew her nails for almost a year just so she could contribute and be forever immortalized lol.

  • Mareen. Yes, Mareen sent us so much stuff before starting her own website with Michael, and eventually becoming a legend.

  • Alex & Dee. Wonderful contributions from Alex and his gorgeous Dee.

  • Leidy. Almost forgotten, this was a close friend of Andres from Mexico who kept us stocked with great finger and toe material.

  • China Girl. Nice little set of vidcaps prepared by the legend Leni Cano for us, all taken from the great David Bowie video.

  • Kyle. High quality for the time, great models and great pictures from a guy who had an eye for the good stuff.

  • Ciara. This might be the most complete Ciara collection around, we were privileged to post their material.

  • Angry Frank. A legend in his own mind, Frank has added so much to Nailbytes. Just some of the pictures he contributed over the years.

  • Colonel & Blossom. From the early 2000's, a couple of contributions from these two. Some Southernails.

  • Jean. Phil's Jean was a big part of our site for 10 years, I think our longest lasting contributors over the years.

  • Anya2002. The legend herself re-appears here from around 2002. Did you know she sat on my knee and fed me chocolate cake with her long amazing nails on my birthday that year? I like to remind you all of this time and time again of course.

  • Britta Hill. One of the great nail techs of all time used to send us pictures for our updates. Truely world class stuff.

  • Dana. Dana's hubby sent us several galleries of his gorgeous wife Dana. I wonder if hubby is still out there?

  • Fierce Fingernailz. A talented nailtech with an edge. The Fierce Fingernailz collection is a maserpiece.

  • Gabby. Another talented tech from New York State that sent us some great contributions.

  • Juma. South American beauty sent 2 contribution galleries.

  • Karla. From Costa Rica, still contributes!

  • Kath. Punxatawney Kath sent stuff in too!

  • Kermi. The legend, some classic pictures.

  • Michael & Valentina. Some nice Eastern Europe treats.

  • Crazy Kisa. From Latvia, this might have been the first chat host I met at Camcontacts. Genuine beauty.

  • Czech French. For french manicure lovers.

  • NG. Mums the word.

  • Nailtorious. Chris, the nail tech legend shared and shared her best stuff with us.

  • Nailpics. Wonderful contributions, but these girls eventually killed the original Nailbytes.com.

  • Pia Corneliusson. Pia is a world class beauty for many reasons of course. She recently contacted me and told me she was sending all her original nail stuff on to me, so eventually, we'll have a complete collection.

  • Ria. Ria rhymes with Pia. A great beauty all on her own.

  • Sandra. Dave Cutter made this contribution to Nailbytes way back in 2002.

  • Shelclawz. My good friend with unbeleivable talons, and an all round beauty to boot. We met several times in Las Vegas and I suppose I'll always be in love.

  • Sonja. A legend. A great friend and wonderful contributor for several years. But as always, people move on ....

  • Gig's Clips. Gig sent us his clip stash. Some Ann Landers and a newspaper clip about a parade. Great stuff.

  • Kenmore Clips. Another stash contributor, again here some real gems - great reading.

  • Skippy Downunder. Australian Nails.

  • Picture Post. Did you know we were the orginal host of what is now The Nailpassion Picture Post? Yep, we had it first, and here are some pics posted early on.

  • The Courtney Archive 1 & The Courtney Archive 2. Courtney the legend with 240 pictures added today in part 1 and 186 pictures added in part two. Hats off to Ken once again for documenting this entire collection over several years.

  • Diorra. One of my all time favorites, and I'm sure yours too. I love this girl, and this was the last set she did for nailbytes before she ran off into the sunset with her true love. So sad dammit.

  • Valentina. Great session I did late one night with this Colombian beauty. Love those nails.

  • Andrea. A small set, but an important one as Andrea was one of those anonymous girls way back ten years ago that sent in some nice pics just for the heck of it. She is still around and looks in every now and then , ten years later.

  • Mz Eroticaclawz 2003. Editor's very first actual "photo session". Mz E and I shot this at Cesar's Palace in Las Vegas on a scorching hot afternoon.

  • Mihaela aka Domina Anaconda. Taken from a couple of private sessions grabbed many many years ago, Mihaela is the cause of my high blood pressure. Bad girl Mihaela, don't stop!

  • Roxy.Wonderful star from the distant past, where oh where are you Roxy?

  • Exhibit 138.Collection of various pictures, mostly Dr. kathy Hayes contributed by several people.

  • Exhibit 104.Another eclectic collection from several years ago, various contributors.

  • Daily Dose. In September 2007 we began updating daily as we had a lot of material to post at that time. We had just returned from our first trip to Romania and featured a lot of that material during this month. This is the forerunner to Prime Time Daily / Prime Time Galleries.

  • Prime Time Galleries. We renamed The Daily Dose to Prime Time in October 2007 and we've used this concept to update with brand new material ever since. This page takes you to the 2007/2008 offerings.

  • Francoise. Pics from this future Hall Of Fame candidate.

  • xBabidollx. Pics from this future Hall Of Fame candidate.
