A Fremont Street Christmas
I suppose the world wakes up this morning and finds that it's just another day like any other. For some it's a happy time spent with friends and family. For others it's a time to mourn. For some, it's a time to reflect back on this year and life in general. It is Christmas Day. A special day for me, along with many of you reading this.
Back in mid December, I embarked on a short trip to Las Vegas and spent 5 days with some of "the rat Pack" and came away with some pictures. Typically bad photography from me, but nevertheless, they are pictures of things I found interesting, and I'd like to share some of them here today.
First up, the wonderful, huge Christmas tree parked out on Fremont Street under the roof, between Four Queens Casino and Fitzgerald's, right in front of the stage. This particular week saw some ice skaters performing on that stage, very appropriate for the season and the weather as it was cold as hell there for my 5 day stay.

My last full day in Vegas was the Monday and Linda took the day off work to join me as we rode the monorail from The Sahara Hotel Casino south to Bally's / Paris, and then walked further south to Planet Hollywood. It was the first time there for both of us and I got these four shots outside the front of Paris .... just a monster construction job going on across the street which, when it's complete, will fill in that vast wasteland between Bellagio and Monte Carlo. Also we see the Paris Marquis with the tower in behind, and then a shot northward from that same spot looking at Mirage, Cesar's area.

Saturday was spent visiting two out of the way casinos, west from the city. We visited Suncoast and one called Rempart. Both have hotels attached to them, but are low profile places you won't read about many places. More for the locals to hang out at. But I gotta tell you, they are both new, fresh and clean and modern. Very impressive. These shots were taken from the 2nd floor parking garage at Suncoast.

These were all taken Monday around lunchtime as we crossed the bridge to get to the Monorail at Sahara. That's the Hilton of course in the first picture, followed up by the Stratosphere tower, and then a few shots of the street below.

First, one remaining picture of The Hilton Casino Hotel. Then we move to the other three pics which were taken outside the front entrance of The Paris on the way back to The Monorail Station. Just beautiful.

A big red ball on the big green tree on Fremont, and some lovely hands doing stuff. That's Lin and Rebs of course.

From the Las Vegas trip I actually have a couple dozen nail shots of Linda and Rebs. We'll post them tomorrow. What follows is a 5 picture set Linda shot for us after we came home and is actually our Christmas Gallery that should be at the top of this page. I decided to use it as a reward for all that have read down this far. Thanks for doing it Linda. Thanks to Lin, Lon, Rebs and Charlie for a great 5 day vacation.
Merry Christmas Everyone!
