There are no nail pictures on this update page. This is another of those non-nail related annoying travelog pages :)
On that very same Saturday afternoon in early December in Las Vegas, after we got finished with our tour of The Boneyard, I asked my limo driver (Lindanailz) if she would take me next door to Cashman Field. She obliged. Rebs and Lon had some stuff to get done, so just Lin and I headed next door to the baseball stadium.
Cashman Center is a huge complex made up of several buildings on a large patch of land in the Vegas Valley. On this Saturday there were several conventions going on including a jewelry convention.
My particular interest today though is in Cashman Field. Cashman Field is part of this complex. It is a minor league baseball stadium with a team in the Pacific Coast League - home of the Triple A team called The Las Vegas 51's.
For the past 15 years or so, the 51's have been the Triple A Affiliate for The Los Angeles Dodgers.
This past summer, the Dodgers and 51's had a falling out and decided to go seperate ways, and broke off the arrangement. At the same time, the Triple A Affiliate of Toronto Blue Jays in Syracuse New York, also did the same thing with the Toronto team.
One thing led to another, and Toronto Blue Jays worked out an agreement with the Las Vegas people which now makes the 51's the Triple A Affilaite of the Blue Jays. I knew one day that Las vegas and Toronto would have some kind of major relationship, aside from the Nailbytes corporation marriage of course :)
Anyway, that's what brought us here today. Lin and I asked at the parking gate of we could gain access to the baseball stadium. The girl, after complimenting Lin on her gorgeous nails, told us to look for the security office and ask. We did that. The guys told us we could go and look around, just not to go on the field. So we did just that. I took some pictures all around the stadium and I was happy.
On the way back down the ramp, I decided to pop my head in to the security office and thank the gentlemen for giving us the ok to go inside, and the guys nodded their heads .... then ... my life flashed beofre me ..... one of the security guys said "Oh, wait, I have something for you". Hmm ... i waited .... he went into his top drawer and pulled out a baseball. he handed it to me. it is an official Pacific Coast Baseball League Ball!!! Linda said the look on my face was just the same as a five year old boy who had just been given an ice cream cone.
What a great day. The tour of The Boneyard and then on to Cashman Field. Thanks to Lin for taking me there, I'll never forget the wonderful Saturday that included both these terrific site visits in Las Vegas.
